Our Mission
[To serve as a] space where artists gather to reify ideas, stories, and expressions of Black imagination.
Blackness is the void in which anything can be created—the beginning of everything. Black creativity encompasses the historical, present, and future realities of the Black Diaspora.
Black Light Arts Collective is a space for stories, art, and performance that replenish agency to black voices. We reject racism, violence, ableism, genderism, sexism, bigotry, and white supremacy. We too reject stories and energy that cause harm to marginalized people groups.
What is the Black Imaginarium?
The better question to ask is what is not the Black Imaginarium? When we as Black people move through, and take up space in any capacity, that is a form of expression. Any way we decide to express ourselves involves our greater imaginarium. This includes visual art, playwriting, acting, dancing, singing, poetry, and so on and so forth.
